Five Guns Every Hunter Should Own

Some hunting equipment and hunting guns are better than others like all other tools of play and work. You should own specific hunting guns (in both a legal as well as ethical terms) for hunting, and for the specific location where you want to hunt. Below are five guns that you should own to hunt successfully.

Shotgun-12 Gauge
These guns are very versatile and are best used for hunting smaller animals such as quail, turkey, rabbits, and geese. Mossberg 500 and Remington 870 are two great guns of the category and are equipped with the interchangeable choke tubes. The shotguns can also be used to hunt bigger animals like bears and deer from close range. With a slug barrel, hunting can also be made at longer distances.
Varmint Rifle
A varmint rifle is the best gun for hunting varmints. Most common among these are the .22-250 and the .223. AR-styled guns are also gaining increased popularity these days. The rifles are better for firing multiple shots in rapid and fast succession. A rifle dedicated for varmint shooting must be highly reliable, accurate and must have the chambers filled with the flat-shooting cartridge.
.22 Rifles
A range of .22 rifles is available in many hunting stores today. Some have the single shot and bolt action. The very popular Ruger 10/22 rifles must be mentioned here. These must own rifles are lightweight, inexpensive, are great for hunting the varmints, and are better for the smaller hunting games.
Long Range Rifles
It sometimes becomes difficult to hunt in certain conditions. Conditions of terrain and distance do not let you be close to the target. In these conditions, a longer short-range gun is required. Such conditions prevail in North America and animals like elk, mule deer, pronghorn, and sheep are hunted more in these areas. Rifles with bolt action are quite beneficial during the condition. The high quality long range rifles available today include Ruger 77, the Remington 700 and the Weatherby-Mark-V. Good quality cartridges for the guns include .300 Winchester-Magnums, .30-6 Springfield, Remington Magnum 7mm and the .308 Winchester. Alternatively, the rifles can also be used for small range shooting and for hunting animals like black bear, whitetail deer and black bear.
Big Bore Rifles
Big Bore guns are perfect for shooting the toughest and biggest of animals like cape buffalos and brown ear among others. These can be a necessity at some times. Big Bore cartridges include the .375 H and H magnum, .416 Rigby, .458 Winchester-Magnum among others. Animals with thicker skins would; require cartridges like .300 Winchester-Magnum and the .30-06 Springfield.
Like all other tools and equipment, hunting accessories and weapons also require care and maintenance. The care must be given in a very careful manner as accidents relating to hunting equipment can be fatal as well.
